Free to read

Book One (Echoes of the Past) and all Codex and Bible entries are free to view on this site — offered at no cost for you to read and enjoy. They remain the copyrighted property of Valens Publishing; free to read is not free to reproduce, and the full works may not be republished or redistributed elsewhere without permission. Beyond that, our only ask is a simple one: please be kind to artists of all sorts.

Ebooks & redistribution

The paid books (Book Two onward) are sold as DRM-free EPUBs — no copy protection and no device locks, on purpose. When you buy one, it's truly yours: read it on any device, make your own backups, and keep it for good. We'd rather trust our readers than wrap their books in restrictions.

In return, one simple ask: each copy is licensed for your personal use. Please don't upload, share publicly, resell, or otherwise redistribute the files. The books remain the copyrighted property of Valens Publishing and are registered with the U.S. Copyright Office — the absence of DRM is a gesture of trust, not a license to copy. And if cost is ever a barrier, Book One is free to read: start there, and welcome.

Physical books

Print editions are produced print-on-demand and priced as close to cost as we can manage — the aim is to get the story onto your shelf, not to mark it up. A printed copy is a normal book in every sense: it's yours to read, lend, gift, or resell, just like anything else on your shelf.

What stays off-limits is reproducing the contents — scanning, photocopying, or otherwise duplicating the text or artwork to share or sell. The work itself remains the copyrighted property of Valens Publishing, registered with the U.S. Copyright Office. Own the book freely; just please don't copy what's inside.

A note on AI

Every piece of art in the books you pay for — their covers and illustrations — is commissioned from real, human artists. You will never be charged for AI-generated art; that is my promise. The free website is the one exception: its imagery is AI-assisted, used to set the world's tone while keeping the site free to visit.

As for the words: the story, the world, the characters, and everything that happens in the narrative are mine — the creation of Tarmon Valens. AI helped me put words on the page, but few of those words survive to the final draft; I am meticulous about ensuring the right ones are used. It was my answer to the blank-page problem, and without it, none of this would exist. No artist was put out of work by my use of it — and several artists earned good money precisely because it helped me past the writer's block that stood between these books and the page.

Valens Consolidated LLC supports responsible use of AI for creative endeavors.
