Orin
A woodcarver on the Creshers' Tidalrest run — gentle, watchful, quicker with his hands than his words.
Orin is a woodcarver who travels with the Cresher caravans — most often the long run of the Basket Road, between Tidalrest and Groveller’s Pass. Tidalrest is where new Creshers from other continents come ashore to complete their pilgrimage to Groveller’s Pass, and it is caravans like Orin’s that carry them the last leg of it. Gentle and watchful, quicker with his hands than his words, Orin is the sort of man pilgrims trust by the second day on the road — and there is usually a small carving in their pocket by the third.
His wife, Leona, keeps a bakery in Tidalrest; the road gives him back to her between runs, and now and then she rides a stretch of it with him.
